Rosemary is a CAT therapist and supervisor and has been a psychotherapist for over 30 years. She has set up and run primary care therapy services, worked in the University of Cambridge Staff Counselling Service, latterly as the head of service, and had a successful private practice.

Her doctoral study explored the experience of relationship abuse of women of high educational and socio-economic status (HESES) in the UK in intimate heterosexual relationships where the abuse was solely conducted on a subtle level. The study followed her identification that some women present in therapy with depression, anxiety, anger and low self-esteem, without knowing their symptoms are caused by subtle abuse from their male partners. From the findings of this study Rosemary has developed a CAT understanding of the process of change that occurs in victims of subtle abuse and leads to an inability to recognise abuse. This process of change may be transferable to all abusive relationships.
